everybody is good! it gives me great pleasure to meet you in the cloud. let me begin by extending warm congratulations to the china council for the promotion of international trade on its 70th anniversary. i also wish to extend my sincere welcome to all guests attending the global trade and investment summit. i also wish to express my heartfelt thanks and best wishes to people from all walks of life at home and abroad who have long cared for and supported china's reform, opening-up and modernization drive.
since its establishment in 1952, ccpit, based on china and facing the world, has played an important role in strengthening the bond of interests between chinese and foreign enterprises, promoting international economic and trade exchanges and promoting the development of state-to-state relations. china council for the promotion of international trade (ccpit) has always taken serving chinese and foreign enterprises as its foundation, promoted trade and investment, promoted institutional openness, actively explored and innovated in international economic and trade arbitration, intellectual property rights services, commercial mediation and other fields, strengthened communication and links with the business communities of other countries, and acted as a bridge for sino-foreign economic and trade cooperation. we will work to make economic globalization more open, inclusive, balanced and beneficial to all. china council for the promotion of international trade (ccpit) 's 70-year history is an important reflection of china's ever-widening opening-up and an important witness to the fact that enterprises from all over the world share development opportunities and achieve win-win results.
i hope that ccpit will continue to forge ahead, pursue excellence, build a network of service enterprises, expand its circle of international friends, and strive for greater achievements in promoting high-quality development, building a new development pattern and promoting the construction of an open world economy.
ladies and gentlemen, dear friends,
at present, the century of changes and the epidemic are intertwined, economic globalization is facing countercurrents, and the world has entered a new period of turbulence and change. the business communities of all countries have a stronger desire for peaceful development, a stronger call for equity and justice, and a more urgent pursuit of win-win cooperation. i would like to make four suggestions.
first, make concerted efforts to defeat the epidemic. at present, the repeated delays and accelerated spread of covid-19 pose a serious threat to people's lives and health and have had a severe impact on world economic development. we should put people and lives first, actively carry out international cooperation in vaccine research and development, production and distribution, strengthen global public health governance, build multiple lines of defense against covid-19, and promote the building of a community of health for mankind.
second, revitalize trade and investment. we should coordinate epidemic prevention and control with economic development, strengthen macroeconomic policy coordination among countries, and bring the world economy out of the shadow of crisis at an early date. china has put forward a global development initiative and called on all parties to work together to comprehensively advance the un 2030 agenda for sustainable development. efforts should be made to shift the driving force, change the growth model and restructure the world economy so as to put it on the track of long-term, sound and stable development. we should support the multilateral trading system with the wto at its core, maintain the security and stability of the global industrial and supply chains, make the pie of cooperation bigger, and deliver more benefits of development to people of all countries.
third, we need to stay innovation-driven. we need to tap the potential of innovation-driven growth, work together to strengthen ipr protection, formulate rules on the basis of full participation and consensus building, and foster an open, fair, just and non-discriminatory environment for scientific and technological development. we need to deepen exchanges and cooperation on innovation, promote the deeper integration of science and technology with the economy, strengthen the sharing of innovation results, and strive to break down barriers restricting the flow of knowledge, technology, talent and other factors of innovation to ensure the full flow of innovation sources.
fourth, improve global governance. in today's world, the future and destiny of all countries are closely linked. forming a clique in the international arena will only push the world towards division and confrontation. we should adhere to true multilateralism, practice the global governance concept of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and mobilize global resources to meet global challenges and promote global development. we should pursue dialogue rather than confrontation, demolishing walls rather than building them, integration rather than decoupling, and inclusiveness rather than exclusion. we should guide the reform of the global governance system under the vision of equity and justice.
i would like to reiterate that china's commitment to opening-up at a higher level will not change. china will only open its door wider to the outside world. china will continue to foster a market-based and law-based international business environment, implement the regional comprehensive economic partnership (rcep) at a high level, and promote high-quality belt and road cooperation to provide more market, investment and growth opportunities for the global business community.
